Esri launches public beta Geotrigger Service
Redlands, Calif. — Esri has launched a public beta version of its cloud-based Geotrigger Service, which helps developers create location-aware apps for iPhone and Android without compromising battery lift. Developers may use the beta Geotrigger Service at no cost, and their comments will help to shape the official release.
The service enables apps built on the Esri location platform to gather business intelligence such as where and when people use their iPhone and Android apps. Developers can also design apps that send messages to users when they arrive at or leave areas defined by a geofence.
“On the Esri location platform, we already offer a host of services for developers from geocoding and geo-enrichment to routing maps. The Geotrigger Service boosts this offering with location-awareness and location-based alerts,” said Johan Herrlin, Esri’s senior business strategist.
Developers can use the Geotrigger Service for apps across all industries including:
Retail and Loyalty: Engage customers with personalized content and deals the moment they enter a store.
Real Estate: Send messages to prospective homebuyers when their search criterion matches a nearby home.
Energy Management: Use location to automatically manage power consumption at home or in the office.
Tourism: Bring public attractions to life by informing tourists of interesting locations as they explore a city.
Public Alerts: Notify citizens about events such as road closures or civic emergencies based on past locations.

SL Green buys out prime lease at 650 Fifth Avenue
New York — SL Green Realty Corp. and partner Jeff Sutton have entered into an agreement to buy out the lease of retailers Juicy Couture at 650 Fifth Avenue. The transaction will enable the leasehold owners to combine Juicy Couture’s existing basement, grade-level and second floor retail space with additional vacant space on the third floor and accelerate the partnership’s ability to reposition the building’s premier retail corner location.
The move follows the SL Green/Sutton joint venture’s recent acquisition of a 49-year leasehold interest covering the entire retail portion of 650 Fifth Avenue.
