Walmart Neighborhood Market to open at Villa Monaco
Denver — Brixmor Property Group said that Walmart Neighborhood Market will open a 55,669-sq.-ft. store at Villa Monaco, located in Denver.
The addition of this market will revitalize the shopping center, said Brixmor, attracting new retailers, restaurants and services to the center, and providing the community residents a convenient place to shop within their own neighborhood.
In conjunction with Walmart’s opening, Brixmor will be redeveloping the shopping center, including a new façade, enhanced lighting, and parking lot improvements with total spending of over $3.5 million.
Brixmor has 28 Walmart-branded stores encompassing more than 3.5 million sq. ft. throughout its nationwide portfolio of shopping centers.
Combined Properties names development/acquisitions lead
Washington, D.C. — Combined Properties announced that Scott Kend has joined the company as senior director of development & acquisitions, charged with leading Combined’s efforts to acquire new value-add retail shopping centers and mixed-use development projects on the West Coast.
Kend will also be responsible for redeveloping portions of Combined’s portfolio of retail centers in the Southern California region, as well as working on its mixed-use developments.
Buckle to open at Golden Triangle Mall
Denton, Texas — The MGHerring Group and Cencor Realty Services said that The Buckle will open a store at Golden Triangle Mall, located in Denton, Texas.
Buckle will occupy 5,040 sq. ft. and will open in fall 2013. In addition, the list of new tenants includes food court eateries Italia Express, Tobu Oriental Eatery and Smoothie Paradise.
Golden Triangle Mall has recently renewed leases with several key concepts, including American Eagle Outfitters, The Limited, Hallmark, Regis Salons, Zales Jewelers and MasterCuts. The Limited has committed to a total renovation of its existing store. Payless ShoeSource recently completed a remodel to its most current prototype. J.C. Penney, currently under renovation, has added brands such as Joe Fresh and Liz Claiborne. Hibbett Sporting Goods’ new location within the mall is under construction.
The 765,000-sq.-ft. Golden Triangle Mall is currently undergoing a total renovation as part of a joint venture; after completing the interior remodel in late 2012, exterior construction has launched with entrance renovations, new food court/restaurant/retail wing, along with new pylon signage, landscaping and other parking lot improvements.
The mall renovation will be completed in summer 2013.
The Weitzman Group handled lease negotiations with Buckle as exclusive leasing agents for the mall.
