Weis brings savings to Facebook fans

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets’ official Facebook page is celebrating its 10,000th fan with exclusive coupon offers, the grocer announced Tuesday.

Weis Markets’ Facebook fansnoware eligible for these coupons at Facebook.com/WeisSuperMarket. The coupon offers include $5 off a $50 purchase; $1 off 12-oz. Weis quality granola; $1 off 12-count Weis quality coffee solos and $1 off a Weis Five Star item.

“We’ve steadily increased the value of our fan page, which offers contests, daily healthy recipes, company updates and recall information,” Brian Holt, Weis Markets’ director marketing said. “We plan to offer three to five new coupons every two weeks.”

Toys ‘R’ Us to open e-commerce DC near Reno

Wayne, N.J. — Toys “R” Us announced Wednesday that it will open a new e-commerce distribution center near Reno, Nev., to support its expanding online business.

The dedicated e-commerce fulfillment center, located in McCarran, is slated to open in July.

Once operational, the retailer said the 300,000-sq.-ft. facility will enable it to increase its fulfillment capacity and expedite deliveries to online customers in the western United States.

“As more consumers enjoy the simplicity and ease of online shopping, Toys “R” Us continues to invest in e-commerce enhancements to advance customer service and satisfaction across all shopping channels. We believe the McCarran facility will play an important role in further accelerating our company’s online business growth and order fulfillment,” said Jerry Storch, chairman and CEO, Toys “R” Us.

iParty loss widens in Q1

Dedham, Mass. — Party goods retailer iParty Corp. reported Wednesday a loss of $1.51 million in the quarter ended March 26, compared with a loss of $1.49 million in the year-ago period.

Revenues for the quarter edged up 1.7% to $15.1 million. Same-store sales dipped 1.1%.

iParty Corp. operates 53 iParty retail stores in New England and Florida.
