Wet Seal Names New President, CEO

Foothill Ranch, Calif., Wet Seal Inc. said Thursday it hired Edmond Thomas as its president and CEO under a three-year contract, with chairman and CEO Joel Waller stepping down.

Thomas was previously president and COO of the company from 1992 to 2000. He is currently president and co-CEO of Tillys Inc., a privately owned retailer.

Thomas is expected to join Wet Seal again in early October.

O’Charley’s Names VP, Design & Construction

Nashville, Tenn., O’Charley’s Inc. announced that J. Harold (“Jay”) Allen joined the company as VP of design and construction. In his new position, Allen will be responsible for all of the company’s design and construction activities for new company-operated and franchised restaurants, and for the “Project RevO’Lution” and “Dressed to the Nines” re-branding initiatives.

Prior to joining O’Charley’s, Allen was senior VP at Forrester Construction in Rockville, Md., where he was responsible for all construction operations and reported directly to the president.

Valentino to Resign

Rome, Valentino Garavani said on Tuesday that he is stepping down as head designer of Valentino Fashion Group after 45 years in the business. Valentino said he would show his last ready-to-wear collection in Paris in October and his couture collection there in January.

In addition, Valentino Fashion Group said Wednesday it has appointed Alessandra Facchinetti, 35, as the fashion house’s creative director for womenswear. She previously worked at Gucci, where she was Tom Ford’s replacement.
