Xcel Brands acquires Judith Ripka

New York — Xcel Brands announced that it has acquired fine jewelry and watch brand Judith Ripka for approximately $22.5 million.

Xcel currently owns Isaac Mizrahi New York and has an interest in the Liz Claiborne New York brand.

"We are excited by the opportunity to work with Judith Ripka and her distinctive designs; the Judith Ripka Brand embodies our core mission of delivering products of uncompromising quality,” said Robert W. D’Loren, Xcel’s chairman and CEO. “We see a tremendous potential for engaging Judith’s brand followers across new product categories, leveraging our omnichannel strategy. This acquisition satisfied all of our acquisition criteria; it’s strategic, synergistic, and accretive."

Judith Ripka will serve as the brand’s chief designer.

Lane Bryant opens store in Iowa

Columbus, Ohio – Lane Bryant opens a new store in Davenport, Iowa, on April 4. The store is located in Elmore Marketplace.

From April 4-6, those who visit Elmore Marketplace’s new Lane Bryant location will have the chance to win one of (25) $25 Lane Bryant gift cards each day. Lane Bryant operates 775 stores across the U.S.

Dick’s Sporting Goods opens relocated Pittsburgh store April 13

Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods opens a relocated store at McCandless Crossing in Pittsburgh on April 13. The original store location at Northway Mall will be closing on April 8 to make way for the new, enhanced McCandless Crossing location.

Enhancements to the new location, which will have 50,000-sq.-ft. of space, will include expanded brand shops, a running center with a local event schedule, a women’s studio apparel department, a soccer shop, a lacrosse shop, a baseball shop, a newly expanded youth footwear section and an improved checkout experience.
