Zale Adds Activist Shareholder to Board
Dallas Zale Corp. said Friday it named Richard Breeden and another Breeden Capital Management partner to its board, three days after the investor group raised its stake in the retailer.
Zale added Breeden, a former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Breeden Capital Management CEO and CIO, and James M. Cotter, a founding partner of Breeden Capital Management, to bring the total number of board members to eight.
Zale also said that it is seeking an additional independent director to bring the board to its full size of nine directors.
Mattress Firm Appoints Director of Brand Development
Mattress firm Inc., announced that Kim Roberts has joined the company as director of brand development. She will be responsible for executing the company’s brand architecture and directing the alignment of the branding initiatives across all consumer and customer touch points, as well as internal constituents.
Roberts is a 15-year veteran who built a solid background in retail branding through a career highlighted with roles at several high-profile companies including CompUSA, The Home Depot and EarthLink, Inc.
CBL Announces Directors
CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. announced that Katie Reinsmidt has been promoted to director of corporate communications and investor relations. Dan Summerlin will join the company as Director of Corporate relations.
Reinsmidt join CBL in August 2004 as director of investor relations, serving as the primary communication liaison between the company and its shareholders, as well as many other constituencies within the investment and financial communities. In her new role, Reinsmidt’s responsibilities will be expanded to include all corporate and media relations and publicity.
Summerlin will be responsible for execution of the corporate marketing strategy, including development and implementation of corporate collateral materials, advertising campaigns and branding. He will also be responsible for corporate special-event planning.
Prior to joining CBL, Summerlin served four years as director of electronic marketing for Unum and four years as director of marketing communications for SI Corp. in Chattanooga, Tenn.
