Zale uses NewComLink platform to expand customer financing options
Austin, Texas — NewComLink announced that Zale Corp. has implemented the NewComLink platform as part of its new program to provide alternative financing options to its U.S. customers.
Zale announced the new alternative financing program on Aug. 31.
“We are continually looking for new ways to build additional long-term loyalty and sales,” said Ken Brumfield, VP of financial products for Zale. “The NewComLink platform allows us to leverage our current systems and processes to expand the financing options we offer our customers. The result is that even more customers can now purchase fine jewelry — easily and affordably.”
Report: Barnes & Noble expected to debut new Nook
New York City — Barnes & Noble is expected to unveil the new Nook — its response to Amazon.com’s new Kindle Fire tablet — next Monday, the Associated Press reported.
Barnes & Noble invited journalists and analysts to a news conference for a "very special announcement" that day.
The invitation follows Amazon.com’s launch of Kindle Fire in late September. The e-book reader was upgraded to be able to surf the web, stream movies and TV and support thousands of apps in addition to being an e-book reader. The Kindle Fire starts shipping Nov.15.
Earth911 names head of retail strategy group
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Earth911, an organization thatgathers, distributes and analyzes localized recycling information to assist manufacturers, organizations and consumers with product end-of-life solutions, announced that Patricia Kimball, Ph.D., has joined the company as VP retail strategy group.
“Her understanding and experience with implementing end-of-life solutions is directly relevant to Earth911’s corporate mission and goals. We’re thrilled to have Patty join our team of experts.”
Kimball’s role in the company is focused on building partnerships within the retail sector, aligning with industry leaders and organizations, such as the Sustainability Consortium, and creating new opportunities for Earth911 to work with retail clients on product stewardship and end-of-life solutions, the company reported.
A 20-year veteran in the waste business, Kimball most recently worked at Waste Management Inc. where she developed end-of-life recycling solutions for post-consumer products such as CFLs and other universal waste.
The waste industry is a second career for Kimball after working in clinical laboratory medicine. Kimball has a B.S. in Medical Technology and Ph.D. in Immunology from Arizona State University.
