The Container Store centralizes in-store customer communications

The Container Store is integrating all content it delivers in-store shoppers.

The Container Store is managing all in-store signage, branding, and messaging with one integrated solution.

In an effort to ensure that its customers get accurate and up-to-date messaging in every location, The Container Store is implementing the ECS5 retail solution system. Leveraging ECS5 technology, the retailer integrates all communications to the customer, including digital and print signage, multimedia displays, shelf tags, and promotions, in one central system.

This means The Container Store can control signage in every store location from one place. Within the system, stores can integrate their planogram, inventory, and pricing information; as well as integrate, design and print paper signage, including electronic shelf tags, on demand.

As a result, the retailer intends to save employees time when printing signs and minimize waste. Utilizing the ECS5 solution, The Container Store plans to instantly update digital displays in real time to convey the most accurate and up-to-date information. Within ECS5, The Container Store can also designate what messaging is shown in which location, for prices and promotions that vary between locations.

"We have always believed that our in-store product signage serves as a silent salesperson for our customers when they're not working directly with one of our experts," said VP of visual merchandising for The Container Store Peggy Doughty. "It is a huge focus and time commitment to ensure our signage is where it needs to be, when it needs to be."

"We are pleased to have a solution that will enhance The Container Store's commitment to delivering a high level of customer service through store signage," said Derek Buchanan, CEO at ECS Global Inc. "This will also result in significant time savings for The Container Store and will allow them to distribute signage to their stores the way they want to."

The Container Store is bolstering its ability to communicate with in-store shoppers via signage as it returns to brick-and-mortar growth. With a goal of doubling its sales to $2 billion by fiscal 2027, the retailer recently said it plans to open 76 stores during the next five years, including two locations this year.

The Container Store currently has only 5% of the $20 billion home storage and organization market. In February 2022, the company launched a new branding campaign, Welcome to The Organization, with a 22% off welcome offer that drove record-breaking single-day sales, according to The Container Store. The retailer followed up the branding campaign with the launch of a reimagined loyalty program, Organized Insider, and its first mobile app.
