Kohl’s in new wellness push—with weight loss giant

1/29/2019
Kohl’s is on a health kick and it is teaming up with one of the nation’s most successful weight loss companies as part of the initiative.

The department store retailer is collaborating with WW (the newly rebranded Weight Watchers) to pilot a variety of health and wellness offerings that include the debut of the first WW Studio at Kohl’s. The 1,800-sq.-ft. “community space,” which will be located inside a Kohl’s store in the Chicago market, will host WW workshops for local WW members, as well as a curated WW space for Kohl’s customers and associates.

The initiative also includes the introduction of WW Healthy Kitchen products at select Kohl’s stores, with an expanded selection on the retailer’s e-commerce site. The line, which will launch in June, includes the new collection of health-conscious WW-branded kitchenware and cookware, along with products and tools for food and meal preparation, storage and hydration. WW Healthy Kitchen products – designed to make healthy cooking and eating easier – will be part of a wide selection of home and lifestyle wellness products available at Kohl’s, including fitness wearables, sleep habits and aromatherapy, the company said.

“We want to encourage families to lead healthy and fulfilled lives, and a strategic partnership with WW provides the opportunity to further advocate for the health and well-being of Kohl’s customers and our associates,” said Michelle Gass, CEO, Kohl’s. “As a destination for active and wellness for the entire family, we continue to seek out new ideas that support our customers’ health goals.”

Kohl’s has subsidized its employees’ WW memberships since 2012. It is increasing the benefits in 2019 through its Healthy Rewards program.
