First Look: Target’s new stores emphasize convenience, safety
Target opened 32 new stores in 2021 — check out some of their features.
Of the new stores the discounter opened this year, 28 are small formats, with the spaces tailor-fit to serve customers from the Upper West Side of Manhattan to the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. (A list of the locations is at end of article.)
CONVENIENCE
With the growing popularity of its same-day services, Target is continuing to expand the number of drive up spots featured at many its new stores. Once inside, more space has been built into the front of the building dedicated to order pickup, helping it serve customers faster.
Going Local
Target has built localized elements into its stores, from the design (a unique mural is painted on the inside of its location in Lihue Kauai, Hawaii) to the assortment (local sports team merchandise is featured in its store on the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor campus.)
Enhancing Features to Shop Safely
The retailer has built in the latest in health and safety features in its newest locations, including additional space to accommodate social distancing, plexiglass shields at checkout lanes, contactless fixtures and helpful signage.
