Advance Auto Parts adds board expertise

A Tesla board member and Walgreens supply chain executive are the newest members of the board of directors at Advance Auto Parts.



One of the nation’s leading automotive retailers, Advance Auto Parts named Brad W. Buss and Reuben E. Slone to its board. Both men bring interesting perspectives to the operator of nearly 5,200 stores.



Buss recently retired as the CFO of Solarcity Corp., chaired by Tesla founder Elon Musk. Buss has served on the board of Tesla since 2009. Prior to his role with Solarcity, Buss was CFO of Cypress Semiconductor from 2005 to 2014 and during his career he also held financial leadership roles with Altera, Cisco Systems, Veba Electronics and Wyle Electronics.



The other executive joining the Advance board, Reuben Slone, currently serves as senior VP of supply chain management at Walgreen Co., one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains and part of the Retail Pharmacy USA Division of Walgreens Boots Alliance. Prior to joining Walgreens in 2012, Slone served as executive VP of supply chain and general manager of services at OfficeMax from 2004 to 2012. Prior to OfficeMax, he held various supply chain leadership positions with Whirlpool, General Motors and Federal-Mogul Corporation.
