Fast growing grocery delivery service Instacart is adding a value-oriented chain to its network of grocery stores.

The company announced it is teaming up with Smart & Final to allow customers in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area to choose from virtually any items carried at their local Smart & Final store and have them delivered in as little as one hour.

Prices on Instacart will match Smart & Final's everyday low in-store prices, excluding special offers.

"Instacart customers asked us to work value grocers into our mix, and we delivered," said Nilam Ganenthiran, vice president of business development and strategy at Instacart. "Smart & Final has a stellar reputation as being one of the premier value chains on the West Coast, offering a wide assortment of high-quality items at low warehouse prices. It's the ideal choice for grocery shoppers on a budget, and a great addition to the Instacart service in California."

Both Instacart and Smart & Final believe that customers shouldn't have to choose between quality and price or quality and accessibility. The Smart & Final/Instacart partnership will help bridge the gap for families on a budget -- they can access high-quality foods and everyday staples at an affordable price.

"Smart & Final is excited to kick off this delivery partnership with Instacart today," said Michael Laddon, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President at Smart & Final. "We look forward to providing Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area shoppers an online one-stop shopping experience where households, businesses, clubs and organizations can purchase their everyday grocery and household staples, while also having the ability to stock up on a variety of club-sized products."

Launched in San Francisco in 2012 and now serving customers in 16 markets, Instacart has fundamentally changed how consumers and businesses get their groceries. Instacart connects its customers with personal shoppers who shop for and deliver grocery orders in as little as an hour. This innovative delivery process eliminates the need for costly infrastructure such as inventory, warehouses, and delivery trucks and led to Instacart being named "America's Most Promising Company" by Forbes Magazine in January 2015.

New customers can sign-up at www.Instacart.com, and get free delivery on their first order. Future orders cost just $3.99 for two-hour delivery or $5.99 for one-hour delivery. Customers can also purchase a $99 annual Instacart Express membership and receive free delivery on any order over $35. Smart & Final is a value-oriented food and everyday staples retailer for household and business customers.

Smart & Final is headquartered in Los Angeles, where it was founded over 140 years ago, and operates over 260 grocery and foodservice stores under the "Smart & Final," "Smart & Final Extra!" and "Cash & Carry Smart Foodservice" banners in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, with an additional 14 stores in northern Mexico operated through a joint venture.
