Market is tough, but this teen retailer is thriving
As teen retailers deal with competition from online as well as off-price and fast-fashion brands, one teen retailer is flourishing — with aggressive store expansion plans.
American Eagle’s intimates brand, Aerie, has enjoyed five consecutive quarters of 20% plus same-store sales increases, and plans to open 50 new stores in 2017, CNBC reported.
The brand, which currently operates some 190 stores, is also branching out, and will add swimwear for young women to its offerings.
"I feel like Aerie can own the swim business," Jennifer Foyle, Aerie’s brand president, told CNBC.
