  • BV Belk Properties taps JLL Retail to manage, lease Lakeshore Mall

    Sebring, Fla. -- BV Belk Properties has retained JLL Retail to manage and lease Lakeshore Mall, a 490,000-sq.-ft. retail center located in Sebring, Florida. The mall was built in 1992, and is the only enclosed regional mall within 40 miles of Sebring.
     
    “I see nothing but a good future for Lakeshore Mall, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to take a steady center and make it extraordinary for locals and passer-byes with the support of JLL,” said B.V. Belk Jr., owner of BV Belk Properties.

  • Muscle Maker Grill plans 22 new U.S. stores

    Colonia, N.J. -- Muscle Maker Grill, a fast-casual restaurant franchise that serves freshly prepared health-conscious meals, will be opening 22 new locations throughout the country, which will raise the number to more than 75 units.

    Recent store openings include Las Vegas, Dallas, a third location in Connecticut, located in Hamden and a second location in Staten Island, New York. An additional 22 new franchises will result in the development of restaurants across the country, from California to New York.

     

  • Report: New mixed use center coming to Chicago

    Chicago – A former bank building in Chicago is the planned site for a new mixed use retail/residential complex. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, Novak Construction Company intends to build a 60,000-sq.-ft. ground floor retail center with 80 to 160 residential units located above it.

  • GlamOn launches automated store at Harrah’s resort

    Hollywood, Calif. - Direct-to-consumer cosmetics retailer GlamOn Inc. is operating an automated beauty store at Harrah's Resort Southern California in Valley Center, California. The store is based on an automated retailing system from AVT Inc.

    The system is the first of its kind that provides luxury beauty products, skin care, hair care, grooming items and gifts, from an automated retailing center. The selections are usually only sold in luxury stores, upscale dermatologist offices, and exclusive spas, as well as the GlamOn e-commerce site.

     

  • JLL: Retail development on fire in Florida

    Orlando, Fla. -- Florida's retail development market is moving indoors. According to JLL research, nearly half of all retail commercial construction in Florida in the half of 2014 is taking place in malls and shopping centers.

  • Saks to anchor new center in Miami

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue will open a three-level, 107,000-sq.-ft. store in Brickell City Centre, Miami.

    The store, scheduled to open in fall 2016, will help anchor the mixed-use development, which is currently under construction. The project includes residential, office and hotel space, along with a 565,000-sq.-ft. shopping center.

  • Top industry groups agree to streamline green building tool development

    Washington, D.C. -- In a first, the International Code Council (ICC), ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have come together and signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of Standard 189.1, the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and the LEED green building program.

  • Cushman & Wakefield awarded major Bloor Street leasing assignment

    Toronto -- Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed retail leasing agent for 100 Bloor Street West, a major shopping mecca in Toronto. Currently occupied by Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma, the flagship retail space represents the largest block of available space on Bloor Street in the past 20 years.
