  • Sleepy’s opens on Lee Highway in Centreville, Va.

    Centreville, Va. — Sleepy’s The Mattress Professionals has opened a 6,700-sq.-ft. store in Centreville Square II on Lee Highway in Centreville, Va.

    A.J. Dwoskin represented the landlord in the lease negotiations. Centreville Square II is a 200,366-sq.-ft. neighborhood center. Current tenants include Party Depot, Five Guys, Wells Fargo, Hair Cuttery and The UPS Store.

     

  • Skanska breaks ground on Seattle retail, office tower

    Seattle — Skanska USA Commercial Development Inc. has broken ground on 400 Fairview alongside its first major office tenant — Tommy Bahama.

    Skanska is the first developer to start work in the South Lake Union area of Seattle since the City Council rezoned the one-time industrial hub for office and retail.

    The 400 Fairview building will be a 13-story tower with 320,000 sq. ft. of office space and 17,000 sq. ft. of ground floor retail. Skanska is targeting LEED Gold certification on the building.

  • Cycle Gear opens first New York state location

    Benicia, Calif. — Cycle Gear has announced the opening of its first New York State store in Hicksville. With this new location, Cycle Gear has stores in 31 states. Company officials said this is the first of many planned stores in New York.

    Employee-owned and enthusiast-driven, Cycle Gear is an active member of the riding community, sponsoring local events and working with new and experienced riders to help them find just the right gear.

     

  • Mansour Group completes sale of Houston LA Fitness

    Houston — The Mansour Group has completed the sale of an LA Fitness in Houston for $12 million. The 45,000-sq.-ft. facility is located in Houston’s Memorial Area, the wealthiest neighborhood in the city and the sixth wealthiest zip code in the state.

    Mansour www.themansourgroup.com marketed the property on behalf of the seller, a national REIT. The buyer was another institutional REIT.

     

  • Art Van Furniture opening in Fort Wayne, Ind.

    Warren, Mich. — Art Van Furniture has announced the opening of a 46,000-sq.-ft. store in Fort Wayne, Ind., across the street from the Glen brook Mall in January.

    With 50 stores across Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois, Art Van Furniture is the Midwest’s largest furniture retailer.

  • JLL hiring in Austin

    Austin, TexasJones Lang LaSalle has hired Todd Wallace and Robert O’Farrell to lead its retail brokerage practice in Austin, Texas. Wallace joins the firm as an executive VP and O’Farrell will serve as a senior VP.

    “We’re committed to growing our local market retail practice in key hubs around the United States,” said Greg Maloney, president and CEO of Retail, Jones Lang LaSalle.

  • Red Robin to open in Hagerstown, Md.

    Greenwood Village, Colo. — Red Robin Gourmet Burgers has announced the grand opening of a Hagerstown, Md., restaurant next to the main entrance of Valley Mall.

    The casual dining restaurant chain operates and franchises more than 480 Red Robin restaurants across the United States and Canada.

     

  • Winick brings three new tenants to Flatbush Avenue

    New York — Winick Realty Group has negotiated leases bringing three new retailers to the Flatbush Avenue retail Corridor in Brooklyn, N.Y.

    Starbucks, Game Champ and Cohen’s Fashion Optical will all open doors at 395 Flatbush Avenue Extension, a full-block retail site anchored by Applebee’s and McDonald’s.

    Winick represented landlord Rabina Properties in all three transactions.

     

  • Dunkin’ Donuts looks to expand California presence to 1,000 locations

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts announced it is expanding to California's Central Valley and Central Coast, including Fresno, Bakersfield, Sacramento and Santa Barbara, Calif. The company is recruiting qualified multi-unit operators to open both traditional restaurants and a wide range of non-traditional venues, including colleges and universities, casinos, military bases, supermarkets, airports and travel centers. Over time, Dunkin' Donuts plans to have as many as 1,000 restaurants throughout the state.

  • Bon-Ton opens Carson’s Clearance Center

    York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. will open a 21,000-sq.-ft. Carson’s Store Clearance Center located at The Landings Shopping Center in Lansing, Ill., on Oct. 19. Bon-Ton operates 272 department stores, which includes 10 furniture galleries, in 25 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates.
