  • Two new locations for Nordstrom Rack

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced two new locations for Nordstrom Rack, one in Columbus, Ohio, and one in Tulsa, Oak.

    Nordstrom Rack will open at Sun Center in Columbus, Ohio. The approximately 37,890-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2014.

    Nordstrom currently operates a full-line store in Columbus at Easton Town Center. The company opened the first Nordstrom Rack in the area at Easton Market on September 12, 2013.

  • Divaris renews Big Lots lease for 26,537 sq. ft.

    Richmond, Va. — Divaris Real Estate has announced the renewal of a 26,537-sq.-ft. Big Lots lease in the Midlothian Crossing Shopping Center in Richmond, Va.

    DRE manages and leases the center for landlord Midlothian Associates. Other tenants include Goodwill, Family Dollar and Red Wing Shoes.

     

  • Glendale Galleria adds 30-plus new and expanded stores

    Glendale, Calif. — Glendale Galleria has announced the addition of more than 30 new and expanded stores to its merchandise mix. Most of the new store openings coincide with the mall’s expansive renovation, which updates aesthetics inside and outside of the center. The renovations should finish up by early November in time for the new retailer openings and the holiday shopping season.

  • Cypress Equities acquires Minnesota retail center

    Dallas — Cypress Equities has acquired Eden Prairie Center in Eden Prairie, Minn., an upscale suburb of Minneapolis. The transaction was carried out by a fund managed by Cypress’ real estate investment management group. Eden Prairie Center is a 1.1-million-sq.-ft., two-level, enclosed shopping center. The mall features more than 100 shops and restaurants. Annual shopper visits exceed 12 million.

  • Mid-America brokers sale of Asbury Plaza in Dubuque, Iowa

    Dubuque, Iowa — Mid-America Real Estate Corp.’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of a large portion of the 136,398-sq.-ft. Asbury Plaza in Dubuque, Iowa. The Cafaro organization made the acquisition for $12 million.

    The community shopping center is about two miles from Cafaro’s 700,000-sq.-ft. Kennedy Mall.

    The community shopping center features national anchor retailers including Michaels, Bed Bath & Beyond and Petco. Shadow anchors include Hy-Vee Grocery Store, Kohl’s and AMC Theater.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts in college store expansion push

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts is increasing its focus on opening stores in college campuses and other non-traditional locations. The list of universities that have recently opened new Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in 2013 or plan to open new locations by January 2014 includes Westfield University (second location), Norwich University, Merrimack College, University of Rhode Island (opening two locations), University of Alabama Huntsville, Brandeis University, and Wayne State University.

  • Miracle Mile Shops welcomes four new tenants

    Las Vegas — Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is ushering in four new dining and retail destinations spanning 9,192 sq. ft.

    Two new restaurants, Meatball Spot and Ketchup Premium Burger Bar will soon boost the restaurant count 17.

    Tervis, the insulated tumbler retailer, will open at Miracle Mile Shops in December.  Slated to open in February 2014, Shoe Palace will add its selection of footwear, apparel and accessories to the center.

  • SRS hires senior VP in Phoenix office

    Dallas — SRS Real Estate Partners welcomes Jon Cowen as senior VP in the Phoenix office. Cowen bring 24 years of experience in commercial real estate to SRS, where he will focus on representing local and national retailers, shopping center leasing and development and investment sales.

    Previously, Cowen worked with the Retail Advisory Group at Cushman & Wakefield after Cushman acquired his own real estate firm, Cowen Commercial.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods opens new Texas store

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods opens a new store in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Nov. 1. The Corpus Christi location will be the retailer's 21st store in the state of Texas and its 549th nationwide.

    "We look forward to opening our new Dick’s Sporting Goods in Corpus Christi, becoming part of the community and serving athletes of all ages by providing them the equipment they need to excel." said Lauren Hobart, senior VP and chief marketing officer, Dick’s Sporting Goods.
