Fox Valley Mall commissions 6,448-sq.-ft. mural

When you have a lot of wall space, decorate it!

Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Illinois, has commissioned artist Gregg Valley to create a whopping 6,448-sq.-ft. art installation along the exterior of the mall’s former Sears building. This will be the fourth large-scale mural for Fox Valley Mall, which is owned and managed by Centennial.

For more than 20 years, Valley has combined scenery and natural elements from the communities in which his art is displayed, and uses bright colors to deliver a positive, upbeat message. The public is invited to watch Valley work on the installation - which is his largest to date - each day between July 14 and Aug. 14.

“Each piece conveys a message designed specifically for the people of Aurora and Naperville to encourage conversations about the art and to offer a first glimpse into the changes coming soon to Fox Valley Mall that will transform it both aesthetically and functionally into a more immersive and experiential destination,” says Kristina Arias, marketing manager, Fox Valley Mall.

Centennial announced last month its plans for a multi-use central park that will transform the center court space at Fox Valley Mall and at its other Midwest property, Hawthorn Mall. The real estate investment firm will invest over $12 million to re-imagine the two centers’ 31,115 sq. ft. of underutilized space as brand-new outdoor-themed destinations.
