Gainesville gets a Cheesecake Factory

Is getting a Cheesecake Factory a sign that a town has made the big time? So thinks Start Zall, who brokered a deal to bring the popular restaurant to Butler Town Center in Gainesville, Fla.

“Cheesecake Factory opening in Gainesville is continued validation that the market has developed into a sophisticated one,” Zall said. “With the town center experience, it is now perfectly positioned to meet the demands of its diverse and rapidly growing consumer base.”

Cheesecake Factory’s planned location at the newest addition to the sprawling Butler Neighborhoods complex will be near the I-75 exit used to access the University of Florida campus and the UF Health-Shands hospital system.

The 450,000-sq.-ft. town center’s luxury apartments and restaurant and entertainment additions is designed to fill a market gap in her hometown, said Butler Enterprises president Deborah Butler.

“This is a deal I’ve had my eye on for six years now, and it took a lot of growth for us to get the attention of this best-in-class restaurant, but we’re finally here,” Butler said.

The town center combines with Butler Plaza and Butler North to provide 1.7 million sq. ft. of shopping and dining on the 267-acre property.
