Marriott to open hotels at five more Simon centers
The merger of hospitality and retail proceeds apace as Marriott International and Simon Property Group announced an expansion of their business relationship.
Marriott International and Simon Property Group announced plans to open five more Marriott Hotels at Simon properties over the next several years. "Simon's centers provide leisure and business travelers alike access to shopping and restaurants, providing the perfect complement for our select-service brands such as AC by Marriott and Residence Inn," said Marriott chief development officer Eric Jacobs.
AC Hotels are destined for Dadeland Mall in Miami and Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Fla.; a Courtyard Marriott is planned for Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis; Fairfield Inn & Suites will open at Firewheel Town Center in Garland, Texas, and a Residence Inn is slated for Long Island Jericho.
Simon already fields more than 15 Marriott hotels at its properties, including The Westin at The Domain in Austin and the AC Hotel Buckhead at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.
"There is a great synergy when you combine Marriott's innovative hotels and Simon's exciting shopping, dining, entertainment and mixed-use properties," said Patrick Peterman, VP of development and asset intensification at Simon.
