Spirit Halloween completes 2010 pop-up-store leasing program

10/1/2010

New York City Winick Realty Group said Friday that Halloween and costume accessory retailer Spirit Halloween, based in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., has completed its pop-up-store leasing program for 2010.

“Spirit is aggressively expanding in the New York market,” said Alexander Hill, the retailer’s exclusive retail broker in New York City. “This year, the company leased more Manhattan stores than ever before,” including an 11,000-sq.-ft. space at 655 Avenue of the Americas at 20th Street, and 312 First Avenue, between 18th and 19th Streets, formerly occupied by Blockbuster.

Many of these locations will remain through January as ToyZam! Stores, which will sell toys for the holidays.

Throughout 47 states and Canada, Spirit Halloween leased 870 pop-up stores this year, which exceeded their goal of 850 stores for the 2010 Halloween season.

“They’re expecting a great season and time will tell just how much they expand next year,” added Hill. Moreover, the retailer opened four stores outside of Manhattan, including Steinway Street in Astoria and on Kings Highway in Brooklyn.
