Hy-Vee expanding new store concept
Hy-Vee is doubling down on its smaller-store format.
The company has opened the second location of its new Fast & Fresh format, in Altoona, Iowa. The first location opened in December 2018, in Davenport, Iowa. At least two additional Fast & Fresh stores are set to open in the Des Moines metro area by yearend, reported the Des Moines Register.
The 10,000-sq.-ft. Altoona store features grocery items, including pantry and frozen items, a selection of fresh produce, dairy, meat and bakery items and a pizza bar where customers can customize their own order. Made-to-order meals for carry-out or dining in, take-and heat meal options and Hy-Vee Mealtime Kits are also available. Customers can fuel up at the store’s 14 gas pumps.
Hy-Vee operates more than 245 stores across eight Midwestern states.
