Publix expanding its GreenWise Market footprint

BY Marianne Wilson

Publix Super Markets announced a fifth location for its revamped organic and natural foods store concept.

Publix said it will open a GreenWise Market in Marietta, Georgia, with the opening date still to be determined. The supermarket company last year announced that it planned to reignite and revamp the concept, which it introduced in 2007. The first location featuring the new format will open in October, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Other previously announced GreenWise locations include Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Lakeland, Florida; and Boca Raton, Florida. And more are expected as Publix said it continues to look for additional GreenWise locations throughout its operating area.

Publix currently operates three GreenWise stores, with the last one opened in 2008.

Publix operates more than 1,100 grocery stores throughout seven states in the Southeast.
