Taco Bell, Burger King, Chipotle make headlines with new formats

The pandemic is causing some of the nation’s leading fast-food chains to rethink their restaurant designs, with an eye on convenience and the drive-thru experience.

Here are three quick-service chains that are introducing new designs in response the pandemic.

Taco Bell unveiled a new restaurant format intended to make things quick and convenient for mobile and drive-thru customers. Its new "Taco Bell Go Mobile" concept, which will debut in the first quarter of 2021, is designed to enhance the digital and drive-thru experience for customers. 

Burger King unveiled two futuristic restaurant designs. that offer a “touchless” experience, complete with conveyor belts that deliver orders to customers. The designs require about 60% less square footage than a traditional Burger King restaurant. 

Chipotle Mexican Grill opened restaurant that fills pick-up and delivery orders only. “Chipotle Digital Kitchen,” the company’s, first-ever digital-only restaurant, does not include a dining room or front service line.
