Target going down-to-the-wire with Christmas online orders

Target customers can place online orders on Christmas Eve for pickup that same day.

Target Corp. is reaching out to last-minute holiday shoppers.

The discounter said that customers can place same-day online pickup or drive-up orders as late as 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and and pick them by store close at their local Target. (Most Target stores will be open to 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve.)

Shoppers also can place orders via Target’s home delivery service, Shipt, to have items delivered to their door in as little as hour, with a final delivery window of 5 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.  The retailer said its trucks are making deliveries each day to stores to replenish everyday essentials and other items.  

Despite an early holiday shopping rush, many shoppers have not yet even come close to finishing their holiday shopping. A new survey from Klarna found that 89% respondents haven’t finished their holiday shopping yet, up 39% from the 64% of respondents who were not finished by this point in the 2020 holiday season.

Target also announced new last-minute deals on thousands of gifts its entire assortment. The deals, running from Dec. 19 -25, include:

  • Up to 50% off select toys;
  • Up to 50% off video games;
  • Up to 20% off TVs and up to 40% off home theater accessories;
  • Up to 45% off select kitchen appliances and cookware;
  • 20% off select women’s and men’s cold weather accessories and boots; and
  • 30% off Wondershop holiday apparel and pajamas for pets.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s is extending its hours for last-minute holiday shoppers,  with most of its 1,100 stores open until midnight from Dec. 16 until Dec. 24, when they will close at 6 p.  On Christmas Eve, customers who place an online order for select items by 1 p.m. local time can pick them up at the store by 6 p.m. local time.
