Report: Walmart to pitch its ad business to CPG companies
Walmart Inc. is stepping out to grow its fledgling advertising business.
The discount giant will meet with large consumer goods companies at an event next week to pitch its advertising business, Reuters reported, as it looks to ramp up its website as a platform for other companies to reach customers.
The event, to be held in New York, is likely to be attended by hundreds of companies, ranging from Procter & Gamble and Coca Cola to Mattel and NBC Universal, as well as top advertising and marketing firms, the report said.
Walmart will leverage its massive customer base and data on what shoppers purchase to give it an edge as it encourages advertisers to shift their spending away from such platform as Google, Facebook and Amazon, according to the report.
