Down-to-the-wire holiday shoppers will have some options available at Walgreens as late as Dec. 25.

The drugstore giant is extending its hours for placing and receiving same-day delivery orders. At most store locations, customers may now place orders up to 7 p.m. local time for same-day delivery in as little as one hour. If orders occur outside of these hours, Walgreens will deliver customers their merchandise on the next day by noon.

On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, customers must place same-day delivery orders by 4 p.m. local time at most store locations to accommodate delivery within adjusted store operating hours. For same-day in-store pickup, customers must place their order at least one hour before their Walgreens store closes. On Christmas Day, pickup hours will vary by location based on store operating hours. Pickup is available for eligible items when order subtotal is $10 or more. There is no additional fee for pickup.

Stores Open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, Walgreens stores will be open during regular business hours. Pharmacy hours will vary by location. All 24-hour locations will remain open 24 hours.

On Christmas Day, most Walgreens stores will be open with adjusted operating hours from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. 24-hour Walgreens locations and 24-hour pharmacies will continue to remain open.

Walgreens is also offering an assortment of last-minute holiday gifts for under $20, including slippers, monogrammed drinkware, and gift cards from Walgreens and third-party retailers. See a full list here.

The retailer is extending its omnichannel holiday shopping features as a recent survey from Klarna reveals that many consumers have not yet even come close to finishing their holiday shopping. Results from the survey of more than 1,000 U.S. adult consumers conducted by the global payments provider and shopping platform indicate that about nine in 10 (89%) respondents haven’t finished their holiday shopping yet, up 39% from the 64% of respondents who were not finished by this point in the 2020 holiday season. Among these last-minute shoppers, 31% will perform the last of their shopping during the week of Christmas, and 69% are actively seeking out brands that offer same-day delivery.

Other major retailers are also aiming omnichannel services at last-minute holiday shoppers. Target said that customers can place same-day online pickup or drive-up orders as late as 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and pick them by store close at their local Target. Shoppers also can place orders via Target’s home delivery service, Shipt, to have items delivered to their door in as little as hour, with a final delivery window of 5 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.

In addition, Office Depot is offering free same-day delivery on qualifying online orders placed via its e-commerce site and mobile app on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 24, 2021.

Walgreens operates nearly 9,000 retail locations across America, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
