Check out Lids’ largest store to date — at American Dream

Lids has gone big at one of the largest retail and entertainment centers in North America.

The retailer of licensed and branded headwear and apparel has opened a 7,000-sq.-ft. store at the 3 million sq. ft.-plus American Dream in East Rutherford, N.J.  It is Lids’ largest store yet and first East Coast flagship location, and follows the opening of the brand’s first stores in Europe, in the U.K.

The store features Lids’ signature assortment of vast headwear, apparel, jerseys and novelty items for men, women, and kids. The selection includes options from major North American leagues including MLB, NFL, NHL, and NBA, among others, and major brands such as adidas, New Era Cap, '47, Mitchell & Ness, Hurley and Oakley. With more than 2,000 unique headwear selections and over 600 different jersey styles to choose from, the new Lids will have the largest selection of hats and jerseys in the U.S., the company said.

In addition, the flagship boasts an expanded customization section with on-site customization of hats, jerseys, t-shirts and more in Lids’ signature Custom Zone. Additional features and experiential components will be added to the Lids store in the weeks to follow, including a jumbotron above the Custom Zone, located in the center of the store, that will replicate the look and feel of an in-game experience.

Lids operates nearly 2,000 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada, including through its ongoing partnerships with Macy's and Designer Brands (DSW). It also operates the National Hockey League (NHL) flagship store in New York City as well as the National Basketball Association (NBA) flagship stores in New York City and London.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the new year strong with the opening of Lids’ debut East Coast flagship store at the iconic American Dream,” said Lawrence Berger, chairman of FanzzLids Holdings, the holding company that owns Lids and Fanatics Lids College, and co-founder and partner at Ames Watson. “Our largest Lids store to date will offer our shoppers the largest selection of headwear and jerseys anywhere in the U.S. with the vast team and product assortment our customers know to expect from us.”

American Dream has been expanding its tenant roster. In late December, Toys “R” Us opened its first freestanding store under its new owners at the center.
