Hy-Vee expands delivery options with new partnership

Hy-Vee Uber Eats
Hy-Vee is providing delivery via Uber Eats.

A regional Midwest grocery/convenience chain is collaborating with a major third-party delivery provider.

Hy-Vee Inc. is teaming up with the Uber Eats online delivery platform from Uber Technologies Inc. to offer on-demand and scheduled grocery delivery to customers across the Midwest. Members of the Uber One loyalty program will have a $0 delivery fee and 5% off on Hy-Vee orders of $35 or more.

Uber Eats is launching a sweepstakes for customers ordering from Hy-Vee locations, as well as couriers. This activation will offer consumers 50% off (up to $40) on their first order of $50 or more (before taxes and fees) and the chance to enter a sweepstakes for the chance to win tickets to the 2023 NFL Kickoff game on Sept. 7, 2023

Hy-Vee already offers other proprietary and third-party options for online delivery. In January 2022, the grocer launched two websites, Hy-VeeDeals.com and ShopPetship.com with ship-to-home services available across the country. And during the peak pandemic period in fall 2020, the retailer partnered with on-demand delivery platform DoorDashto provide home delivery of online grocery deliveries.

Since initially partnering with DoorDash, Hy-Vee has also been enabling consumers across Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska to order alcohol directly within the Hy-Vee grocery marketplace stores on the DoorDash app and website.

"Uber Eats has been growing in popularity among many of our customers, making this partnership a win-win for both parties," said Aaron Wiese, Hy-Vee president. "As we expand our offerings, we want to be where our customers are comfortable placing an online order. This launch allows us another avenue to offer our products and best serve the needs of our shoppers."

"Hy-Vee is a beloved hometown brand, and we're thrilled to welcome them onto Uber Eats," said Christian Freese, Uber head of grocery and new verticals across the U.S. & Canada. "Together we know we can make it easier than ever to have groceries and alcohol items delivered on-demand to doorsteps across the Midwest—and we're especially excited to be offering both consumers and couriers across the region the chance to attend one of the hottest kickoff games of the NFL season."

Headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, Hy-Vee Inc. is an employee-owned corporation operating more than 280 retail stores across eight Midwestern states – Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
