Hy-Vee is integrating customer touchpoints including POS, self-checkout, fuel pump, payments, and curbside pickup in its stores.

A regional Midwest grocery/convenience retailer is streamlining payments, as well as mobile and personalization services, in its convenience locations.

Hy-Vee has completed a full deployment of the GK OmniPOS, TransAction+ Payments and GK Drive forecourt solutions in all its convenience stores. As a result of the integrated store operations platform deployment, Hy-Vee intends to support a variety of customer touchpoints, including traditional POS, self-checkout, fuel pump, payments, and curbside pickup.

In addition to obtaining end-to-end enterprise integration, Hy-Vee will be able to utilize the GK platform to add flexible touchpoints and alternative payment methods, with compliance for the EMV payment security standard and end-to-end encryption. The platform also features built-in software management and monitoring tools, as well as extension tools and open APIs for customization and development.

Hy-Vee’s rollout of GK technology to streamline omnichannel operations in its stores follows the June 2021 implementation of a suite of services powered by Google Cloud. Having found that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused more consumers to shop online and create higher demand in its virtual shopping space, the retailer is utilizing Google Cloud technology, to localize information and features to make it easier for customers to shop online while it provides more personalized service, easier ordering, pickup and delivery, and predictive shopping carts. The company expects the continued integration of Google Cloud functionality will help it launch future innovations.

In addition, with the recent launch of the Hy-Vee Plus paid membership program, Hy-Vee has been working to provide more perks and benefits to its shoppers.  At a cost of $99 per year, Hy-Vee Plus premium membership includes perks such as select monthly offers and coupons, free Hy-Vee Aisles Online grocery delivery (a $9.95 per order savings), free Hy-Vee Aisles Online two-hour express pick-up (a $9.95 per order savings), and a personal concierge service.

"We’re always looking for ways to provide convenient, cutting-edge customer service on the forefront of such a competitive and evolving retail landscape,” said Luke Tingley, CIO and senior VP at Hy-Vee. “Our goal is to implement a flexible and agile platform in store and at the pump to make our locations the most convenient destination for customers.”

“In today’s age of converging retail formats, customers expect convenience around every turn. Any interaction at the pump should also be tied to the in-store experience, and vice versa to create a frictionless shopper journey,” said Michael Jaszczyk, CEO, GK Software USA. “By rounding out the OmniPOS solution suite with TransAction+ Payments and GK Drive, Hy-Vee is able to create a cohesive, seamless journey for shoppers at every touchpoint, furthering convenience and loyalty with customers.”

Headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, Hy-Vee Inc. is an employee-owned corporation operating more than 280 retail stores across eight Midwestern states – Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
