REI targets nature lovers in 2 new cities

Sporting goods retailers are going to face increased competition in Cleveland and Philadelphia as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most beloved outdoorsy stores comes to town.



Outdoor gear and apparel retailer announced it will open new stores in fall 2016 in Cleveland and in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.



REI Cleveland will be the company’s first location in Northeast Ohio and fourth store in the state since September 2012, joining stores in Cincinnati, Columbus-Easton and Columbus-Dublin. The 27,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Pinecrest development.



REI King of Prussia will be the fourth location in the Philadelphia area, joining stores in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Marlton, New Jersey and Christiana, Delaware, which will open in the fall. The two-story, 34,000-sq.-ft. will be located in the King of Prussia Town Center.
