Northeast grocer provides same-day delivery

Hannaford Supermarkets is teaming up with Instacart to offer delivery of online orders in as little as one hour.

The Maine-based grocery chain, a division of Ahold Delhaize USA, is enabling customers at nearly 150 stores to shop via the Instacart site or app. Hannaford customers can enter their ZIP code and begin adding items to their Instacart grocery cart.

An Instacart personal shopper will pick and deliver the order within the customer’s designated time frame – ranging from same-day to up to two weeks in advance. All Instacart orders default to “leave at my door delivery,” to maintain social distancing guidelines.

Hannaford is the fourth Ahold Delhaize USA banner to initiate a partnership with Instacart since June 2020, joining Giant Food, Stop & Shop, and Food Lion. More than 750 stores across the four chains are offering online delivery with Instacart.

“We’re excited to rapidly expand same-day delivery service through our partnership with the Instacart marketplace,” said Maile Buker, VP of marketing for Hannaford. “This complements our extremely popular Hannaford To Go pickup and delivery services and addresses growing customer demand for convenient shopping solutions. Our customers now have more options to get Hannaford’s fresh, high-quality products that they’ve come to expect and depend on at our stores.”

Hannaford operates 184 stores located in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Instacart partners with more than 400 national, regional, and local retailers to offer delivery from over 30,000 stores across more than 5,500 cities in the U.S. and Canada.
