Academy Sports to open third Tulsa-area store

Owasso, Okla. -- GBT Realty Corporation announced that it has locked in a third Academy Sports & Outdoor location for the Tulsa area, in the suburb of Owasso, Oklahoma. GBT acquired the 5.8-acre site on Dec. 30 for $2 million. Construction is underway on the $10-million development.



The Owasso location will be the eighth Academy Sports store developed by GBT since 2011. “This is the ideal site for Academy’s next store in Oklahoma’s fastest-growing city,” said Jeff Pape, managing director, shopping center division, GBT. The planned Academy Sports building follows the retailer’s standard 62,000-sq.-ft. prototype. The store is expected to open in August 2015.



GBT is also developing an Academy Sports at its Woodland Commons shopping center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
