Mall of America will be closed on Thanksgiving Day
Mall of America will close on Thanksgiving Day and reopen at 5 o’clock the next morning. Employees who work directly for the Triple Five property and Nickelodeon Universe will receive holiday pay for working on Black Friday.
The Bloomington, Minn., mall’s Mystery Scratch Off promotion will once again take place on that auspicious day. Some 10,000 free gifts worth more than $200,000 will be given away that weekend, and the first 200 guests in line will receive a Mall of America gift card valued between $10 - $500.
Jill Renslow, senior VP of marketing and business development at Mall of America, said they have seen "the excitement and tradition of Black Friday come back to life” with the closing, which began in 2016.
“It is a joy meeting the families and friends who celebrate their Black Friday tradition at Mall of America, creating new memories with their loved ones every year,” she added. “That is truly what this day is about for us.”
