Canadian brand putting down ‘roots’ in the U.S.

Roots has begun its U.S. expansion.

The Canadian lifestyle brand announced it is opening two stores in the Boston area Massachusetts area in June. The two upcoming locations are part of the company’s plan to open 10 to 14 U.S. locations by the end of 2019.

"Our inclusive lifestyle brand, with legendary feeling apparel, leather goods, footwear and accessories, is an excellent fit for the U.S., particularly in New England, and the mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions,” said Jim Gabel, president and CEO, Roots. “Through the combination of our e-commerce platform, which ships to all 50 states, and our U.S. expansion plans, we will be increasingly able to provide more consumers across North America with a Roots omnichannel shopping experience."

The first of Roots’ new U.S. locations will be at Natick Mall, Natick, Massachusetts. The nearly 4,000-sq.-ft. store will feature a customer lounge and other details that enhance the shopping experience. Shoppers will also be able customize select merchandise.

The second retail location will be an almost 5,000-sq.-ft. store at MarketStreet Lynnfield in Lynnfield, Massachusetts.

As of October 28, 2017, Roots' footprint included 116 company retail stores in Canada, four company retail stores in the United States, 109 partner-operated stores in Taiwan, 29 partner-operated stores in China and a global e-commerce platform.
