Natural foods grocer targets aggressive store growth

Earth Fare has hit an important store milestone, but in some ways it’s just getting started.

The organic and natural foods grocer has opened its 50th store, in the Steele Creek section of Charlotte, North Carolina. The 24,000-sq.-ft. store is the company’s seventh in the Charlotte market.

Earth Fare plans to open another 50 locations across the country during the next five years, reported Charlotte Business Journal. The new locations include four stores that will open in Florida in the next two-and-a-half months.

“The business is now well capitalized and funded with a much more powerful brand,” Earth Fare president and CEO Frank Scorpiniti said in the report.

Earth Fare’s mission is to make “clean,” healthy food available for everyone, while providing value and convenience. Its signature “food philosophy,” which informs every product offered in the store, ensures that all products sold are free of high fructose corn syrup, artificial fats and trans-fats, artificial colors, artificial preservatives, artificial sweeteners, bleached or bromated flour, and are never administered antibiotics or growth hormones. The grocer’s assortment includes more than 1,000 private brand food products sourced using only non-GMO ingredients.
