Ollie’s in aggressive expansion; store experience ‘un-duplicable online’
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is not backing down from growing its store base.
The extreme value retailer has set a goal of opening 950 stores. It currently has some 318 locations and is eyeing entering the states of Oklahoma and Massachusetts.
“Brick-and-mortar isn’t dead,” Ollie’s CEO Mark Butler said in an interview with Jim Cramer on CNBC’s “Mad Money” program. “Our shopping experience, it’s absolutely un-duplicable online. It just ain’t gonna happen.”
Ollie’s loyalty program, Ollie’s Army, has reached more than 9 million members and accounts for about 70% of the chain’s business, according to the report.
