Amazon has become the most desirable place to work.

The online giant topped the third annual LinkedIn Top Companies study, which highlights the 50 companies that are most sought-after by professionals. The ranking is based on proprietary LinkedIn data and looks at four main factors: interest in the company, engagement with the company’s employees, job demand and employee retention.

Amazon moved up from second place in 2017 — and snagged the top spot from Google’s parent company Alphabet, which came in second.

With a global headcount of 660,000, Amazon was noted for its “endless expansion.” The company’s innovation and acquisition of more than 2,300 patents also helps its reputation among professionals, according to LinkedIn. Amazon also now offers to prepay 95% of tuition, textbooks and fees for its employees to receive training in "professions of the future."

Other retailers that made the list include Tesla, which took fifth place, and attracted 500,000 job applicants last year. The company is known for quick decision-making: Engineers can ship code “without eight layers of approval,” one former employee told LinkedIn.

Apple came in at No. 6; LVMH at No. 19, and Nike at No. 35. Starbucks, which sits in the 46th spot on the list, is recognized for its growing network of stores, and ongoing commitment to more mobile solutions. Job-seekers are also attracted to the company’s innovative instincts, like the launch of its new Starbucks Reserve banner, which features a full liquor bar, according to the study.
