Stein Mart takes a bite out of lines

Specialty off-price retailer reduces checkout queues and increases product availability with employee app.

Stein Mart is deploying the Mad Mobile Concierge solution for mobile POS and endless aisle on iPads for associates store associates at all 283 stores across the country. Concierge has enabled Stein Mart to renovate, instead of replace, its legacy POS system.

This has saved Stein Mart costs and minimized operational risk. In addition, store associates can offer mobile “line busting” services during busy shopping times. Associates also leverage the app to offer “endless aisle” assortments to customers, locating out-of-stock items in distribution centers or other stores and ordering them.

Since the launch of Concierge, Stein Mart says it has seen higher average order values for transactions processed using the app and an increase in enrollment for its private label credit card.

“Concierge enabled us to upgrade our legacy point-of-sale systems to meet the needs of today’s shopper,” said Sharon Hart, CIO, Stein Mart. “We selected Mad Mobile because of the strong results Concierge has produced for other major retailers and their proven ability to extend legacy POS systems to mobile devices.”

Stein Mart is gaining the ability to offer endless aisle inventory access to brick-and-mortar shoppers as it is obtaining a holistic view of its inventory by implementing the Oracle Cloud enterprise platform. By consolidating omnichannel planning and forecasting across the front and back ends of the enterprise into one solution, Stein Mart is better equipped to manage its inventory to support the needs of its customers, regardless of touchpoint.
