Walmart expands wine offering

A new series in the Walmart Winemakers Selection label focuses on premium wines without the premium cost.

After initially launching its Winemakers Selection label in 2018, Walmart relaunched its Winemakers Selection Classic Series, featuring a streamlined brand identity and varietals, in 2020. Since then, the discounter has noticed customers are becoming more interested in trying premium wines at an accessible price point.

To serve this customer segment, Walmart is exclusively launching the latest addition to the Winemakers Selection label: Winemakers Selection Reserve Series. The new Reserve Series collection will feature five new premium wine varietals from some of the world’s prominent growing regions for a suggested retail price of $10 a bottle.

Varietals featured in the Walmart Winemakers Selection Reserve Series include Argentinian Malbec, Italian Pinot Grigio, French Rosé, Californian Cabernet Sauvignon, and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The Winemakers Selection Reserve Series is available at Walmart stores nationwide. The wines are also available for grocery pickup and delivery, in accordance with local and state regulations.

“We’re confident our customers will love these new wines, brought straight to our customers from growing regions around the world,” said Jason Fremstad, VP, adult beverage, Walmart, in a corporate blog post. “Cheers!”
