  • High-end wine retailer to open on Upper East Side

    New York -- Winick Realty Group announced that a new high-end wine and spirits shop has signed a lease at 1287 First Avenue, between East 69th and East 70th Streets.

    The building owners recently renovated the entire façade of the building and leased out all of the ground-floor retail space. The 1,932-sq.-ft. wine shop features marble and hardwood floors, and is slated to open spring 2013. Co-tenants include Starbucks, Papyrus and Val El Salon and Spa.

  • Togo's continues West Coast expansion with 11 openings

    San Jose, Calif. -- Sandwich chain Togo's Eateries Inc. announced Monday it is in development on 30 new Togo’s units, as the company executed as many franchise agreements in 2012 in order to add to its West Coast presence.

  • Publix unveils new design at Lake Nona

    Orlando, Fla. -- Architects Cuhaci & Peterson said Monday they have completed a new design for Publix Supermarket, unveiled at its new store in the Lake Nona Plaza in Southeast Orlando, Fla.   

    Total square footage for the supermarket is 54,000 sq. ft., and there is another 23,000 sq. ft. ready for build-out that will eventually accommodate retail shops at the center.

     

  • Dunkin’ Donuts to open 330 to 360 stores in 2013; expand into California

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts announced that in 2013 it plans to open 330 to 360 net new restaurants in the United States with growth coming from both new and existing markets, for an increase of 4.5% to 5%. The company also announced that it is expanding to Southern California as part of its long-term goal of having more than 15,000 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the United States alone.  
     

  • Giant Food Stores to open in-store cheese and specialty food shop

    Carlisle, Pa. — Ahold banner Giant Food Stores is opening a cheese and specialty food store in central Pennsylvania, the supermarket chain said.

    Giant — also known as Giant-Carlisle to distinguish it from fellow Ahold chain Giant Foods of Landover, Md. — said it had a deal with Philadelphia-based Di Bruno Bros. to open the store inside the Giant Super Food Store in Camp Hill, Pa. The new store-within-a-store will open on Jan. 24.

  • Delhaize’s Sweetbay to close 33 stores

    New York -- Delhaize Group announced that it would close 33 under-performing Sweetbay stores in Florida by mid-February. The shutterings, which are part of a broader reorganization plan, amount to about one-third of the chain.

    “While these decisions are difficult, especially given the impact on our associates, customers and communities, these actions will continue to enhance the performance of our overall store portfolio and further enable us to deliver profitable growth and accelerate shareholder value,” the company said in a statement.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods to anchor Hadley Center

    South Plainfield, N.J. -- National Retail & Development Corp. announced Tuesday that Dick’s Sporting Goods will anchor Hadley Center in South Plainfield, N.J., joining current anchors Target, Kohl’s, Regal Cinemas and Marshalls.
     
    Dick’s will occupy 50,175 sq. ft. and plans to open in late summer 2013, which brings Hadley Center to 100% leased.

    The 542,000-sq.-ft. Hadley Center is located in a 1.4 million-sq.-ft. mixed-use development, home to more than 120 companies.

     

  • Social Apparel to open 34th Street location

    New York -- Winick Realty Group said that women’s formal wear brand Social Apparel, with locations in four New York malls, has leased its first freestanding location at 255 West 34th Street, located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in Manhattan’s Garment District.

    The store includes 1,760 sq. ft. on the ground floor, 1,276 sq. ft. on the mezzanine and 1,540 sq. ft. in the basement.
     

  • Marco’s Pizza to open new restaurant in Denver

    Denver -- The Zall Co. said Wednesday that Marco’s Pizza will open a new restaurant in Denver, marking the ninth Colorado location for the chain.

    The latest unit will join Which Wich, Noodles & Co. and T-Mobile at a retail project located between Gaylord and York Street on E. Colfax.
