eBay offers 16 days of prime discounts

BY Dan Berthiaume

eBay is celebrating spring with a special online sale that will last 384 hours.

Starting on Sunday, March 24, eBay launched 16 consecutive days of daily offers on a wide variety of products. Each day through Monday, April 8, eBay unveils new discounts in different categories.

Among the product categories eBay will include in its spring promotion are sports memorabilia and apparel, to sporting goods, tech, fashion, and home and garden. All deals that are part of the promotion ship for free. A best price guarantee program gives shoppers 110% of the price difference on any discounted item that is available cheaper from approved competitors, including Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, HomeDepot.com, Jet.com, Sears.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com.

“Whether it’s a backyard transformation, team apparel for game day, or a wardrobe upgrade, we’re tapping into consumers’ springtime mindsets and giving our shoppers amazing prices on exactly what they need to refresh this season from our dynamic marketplace,” said Suzy Deering, chief marketing officer, eBay Americas and Global Brand Lead. “For 16 days, we’re giving our shoppers unbeatable savings on home, tech, fashion, sporting goods and more, all with free shipping.”

eBay is not mentioning Amazon Prime Day, which in its most recent incarnation was a 36-hour sales event held in July 2018. However, this 16-day promotion seems to be an effort to get a competitive jump on the upcoming 2019 edition of Prime Day. eBay actually launched a similar, weeklong online sales event in July 2018 that was timed to start concurrently with Prime Day.
