At the end of 2023, Mango had over 20 company-owned stores in the U.S.

Spanish fashion brand Mango has big plans for the U.S.

The retailer is strengthening its presence on the East Coast with store openings planned for the Washington, D.C. and Boston areas.  Mango, which currently has 24 U.S. locations, plans to open a total of nearly 30 stores here this year.

Mango is aiming for the U.S. to become one of its top three markets in terms of turnover by 2026 by increasing its brick-and mortar-presence, as well as driving online sales on its web site and in marketplaces.

Upcoming Stores

Mango plans to open four stores across the D.C. metro area this year, starting with its store at Westfield Montgomery, Bethesda, Md., which opened on April 14. Later this year, the company will open its doors in downtown Washington, D.C., as well as at Tysons Corner Center, Tysons, Va., and and at Pentagon City, Arlington, Va.,

The retailer will also open three new locations across the greater Boston area, beginning with its store in the Natick Mall, Natick, Mass., which the largest mall in the Bay State, which opened on April 22. Two additional stores will open in the Boston area in 2024.

The new stores feature the retailer's Mediterranean-inspired store concept, New Med, which conceives the Mango store as a “Mediterranean home" with different rooms featuring warm tones and neutral colors.  Natural materials, such as ceramic, tuff, wood, marble, esparto grass and leather enhance the atmosphere.

“We are thrilled to be expanding in the U.S. with our new stores in Washington, D.C. and Boston, two key markets on the East Coast,” said Mango’s director of expansion and franchises, Daniel López. “This is a very exciting time to be at Mango and we will continue executing on our plan to bring the brand experience physically to more U.S. consumers. These openings are the first of several and we look forward to sharing more on our progress as the year goes on.”

Megan began its current U.S. expansion plan in 2022, with the opening of a flagship on Fifth Avenue in New York City as the starting point.  It then focused on increasing its presence in Florida, with the opening of two stores in Miami and one in Orlando.

In 2023, Mango expanded on the West Coast and in the South, opening stores in Texas, Georgia and California.

This year, Mango expanded its presence in California, opening a store in San Diego. It also launched in Pennsylvania with a store at the King of Prussia shopping center in King of Prussia, Pa.

Late last year, Mango said it will launch an “ambitious” expansion plan with close to 500 new store openings planned globally by 2026.

New Loyalty Program

In addition to the new store openings, Mango launched its omnichannel loyalty program in the U.S. this month. The  program, dubbed “Mango likes you,” allows customers to accumulate “Likes” (points) by identifying themselves when purchasing, recycling garments in Mango stores through the Recycling Box, downloading the Mango app or checking-in with the app at any Mango store, among other options.

Points can be redeemed for numerous benefits such as discounts on future purchases, exclusive experiences and partner benefits, such as exclusive pre-access to new collections and private sales or discounts at Booking and Daily Yoga. With this new launch, the program, created in 2019 and with more than 32 million members, is now available in 16 countries.
