Ikea to open store in Merriam, Kansas

Conshohocken, Pa. -- Ikea announced it is submitting plans to the city of Merriam, Kansas, for a Kansas City-area store that would increase the Swedish retailer’s presence in the Midwestern United States.



Located eight miles southwest of Kansas City, Missouri, the 349,000-sq.-.ft, proposed Ikea store would be built along the eastern side of Interstate-35 at the Johnson Drive exit on 18 acres to be purchased from DDR Corp. Ikea also will evaluate potential on-site power generation to complement its current U.S. renewable energy presence at 89% of its U.S. locations.
