Sprouts Farmers Market to join Strong Station

12/2/2014

Huntsville, Alabama - GBT Realty Corp. announced the expansion of Strong Station, a 180,000-sq.-ft. neighborhood center in Huntsville, Alabama, currently tenanted by Academy Sports + Outdoor. Nearly 96% leased, the $16-million Phase II adds 95,000 sq. ft. of retail on nine acres to the east of the existing sporting goods store.

“Strong Station and our Hoover, Alabama, development The Crossings of Hoover will be home to Alabama’s first two Sprouts Farmers Markets,” said Jeff Pape, managing director, shopping center division, GBT. “The strength of the Huntsville market is validated by this grocer making its statewide entry with two highly anticipated locations.”

In addition to Sprouts Farmers Market, Phase II of Strong Station will also include Hobby Lobby, located immediately adjacent to the grocer, and Another Broken Egg, situated at the end-cap of the shop space west of Sprouts. An additional 8,400 sq. ft. of shop space is available in this phase that is slated for completion in February. Construction is currently underway.

“When combined with Phase I, our $26 million investment to date demonstrates our belief in the strength of this retail corridor located just west of downtown Huntsville,” added Pape.

With the announcement of Strong Station, GBT has nearly 1.1 million square feet of retail under development throughout the country. In Alabama, the firm has invested over $90 million among six retail developments that stretch from Huntsville to Birmingham including the Target-anchored The Shoppes of Madison located less than a mile from Strong Station.

Most recently, GBT announced The Market at Czech Hall, a 450,000-sq.-ft. regional shopping center in Oklahoma City. The center is expected to be complete by spring 2016. Also under construction are Jefferson Commons and Middletown Commons in Louisville, Kentucky.
