Storrs Center breaks ground

8/2/2011

Mansfield, Conn. -- Westport, Conn.-based Charter Realty & Development Corp. said that ground was broken on Storrs Center, a new mixed-use town center to be located adjacent to the University of Connecticut in Mansfield.

At completion, the project will include approximately 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space, 700 residential units, and significant open space.

Initial retailers will include the UConn Co-op, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Subway, Cosimos Pizza and others. The first phase of the project is expected to open in the fall of 2012, with a second phase following approximately one year later.

The housing at Storrs Center is expected to meet the demand for downtown living in a college atmosphere. It will appeal to the general public as well as the University’s graduate students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Storrs Center is a public/private partnership of the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, master developer LeylandAlliance, LLC, and Education Realty Trust. Charter Realty & Development is the commercial leasing agency for the project.
