Under Armour to close U.S. stores on Thanksgiving

Under Armour has joined the growing list of retailers who will not be open for business on Nov. 26.

The athletic apparel and gear brand said it will close its 179 retail locations in the U.S. on Thanksgiving as a way to thank its 6,000-plus store workforce for their efforts during the pandemic. Among the retailers that have announced similar moves are Walmart, Target and Best Buy.

"This entire year has been unpredictable and for all of us, challenging in our own ways," said Patrik Frisk, CEO of Under Armour. "It's important to take the time to acknowledge and celebrate the wins that we've accomplished throughout 2020. For that, we're closing our stores to give our retail teammates a chance to pause and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before finishing out the year strong."

Under Armour stores will re-open in accordance with their respective mall hours on Friday, Nov. 27.
