X Team Retail Advisors names new Western, South Central regional heads

X Team Retail Advisors has welcomed two new regional directors to its team.

The firm, which is comprised of more than 350 retail real estate brokers located in 44 markets across the U.S. and Canada, has named James Chung and Jeff Townsend has its new Western and South Central directors, respectively.

Chung is the founder and principal of the Campbell, Calif.-based The Econic Company, and Jeff Townsend is the principal and co-founder of Austin-based Rise Commercial Partners. Chung and Townsend replaced Anthony Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M.-based Pegasus Group, who served from 2020, and Bryan Cornelius of RetailUnion in Dallas, who served from 2022.

During his career, Chung has been the recipient of many awards including Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2012 and the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers Broker of the Year in 2015 and 2016. He is a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), which he served as state director from 2014 to 2017.

The Econic Company, located in the Bay Area, was launched three years ago by Chung. Currently, the company represents more than 100 national and regional tenants in addition to controlling more than 30 million sq.-ft. in northern California.

Townsend specializes in retail and restaurant tenant representation, including strategic planning and expansion execution. Throughout his more than 25-year commercial real estate career, he has represented many national companies, including The TJX Companies, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Five Below, Aspen Dental, Darden, Snooze, Postino, J. Alexander’s, and Sweetgreen.
