  • Burger 21 opens Georgia and N.C. restaurants

    New York -- Fast casual Burger 21 has opened franchised stores in the Atlanta suburb of Buford, Ga., and Charlotte, N.C.

    The company plans to open 15 to 20 more franchised units in Atlanta plus another 10 franchised restaurants in Charlotte over the next few years.

  • New 99 Cents Only Store opens in Houston

    City of Commerce, Calif. — Celebrating the grand opening of its newest Houston store — 11,490 sq. ft. — 99Cents Only Stores will sell Westinghouse 40-in. flat-screen TVs for just 99 cents to the first nine customers in line.

    There will be additional prizes for the next 198 customers in line.

     

  • Trabocco debuts at Alameda South Shore

    Alameda, Calif. — Trabocco, a new, independent chef-owned restaurant, will open this fall at Alameda South Shore Center, according to Jamestown, the center’s owner.

    Founded by Chef Giuseppe Naccarelli, a native of Palombaro, Italy, and his wife, Christine, the 4,700-sq.-ft. restaurant will occupy a prominent position in Center Court, the 594,000-sq.-ft. center’s main plaza.

     

  • Five Below entering Texas with four locations in Austin

    Philadelphia -- Five Below will make its Texas debut, opening four locations in Austin. The stores, slated to open Aug. 2, are the first of more than a dozen stores Five Below plans to open in the Lone Star state this year.

    Targeted at pre-teens and teens, Five Below offers a variety of merchandise across a number of retail categories, with every item priced $1 to $5

  • Dunkin’ Donuts checks into two Great Wolf Lodges

    Canton, Mass. — Dunkin’ Donuts has opened two new locations at Great Wolf Lodge Resorts in Michigan and Virginia. These are the second and third restaurants to open under a franchising agreement between the donut chain and Great Wolf Resort.

    “Our partnerships with Great Wolf Lodge and other lodging properties are a continued focus for our growth in alternative points of distribution,” said Grant Benson, CFE, VP franchising and business development with Dunkin’ Brands.

  • Hakkasan Beverly Hills coming in fall 2013

    Los Angeles — Hakkasan Ltd. has announced the opening of Hakkasan Beverly Hills, a 10,000-sq.-ft. restaurant in the most exclusive neighborhood in Los Angeles.

    The international restaurant group’s newest offering will open in early fall.

     

  • Sleepy’s to open in two Chicagoland centers

    Chicago — Sleepy’s has signed into two Chicagoland shopping centers as part of the mattress chain’s expansion in the mid-west.

    According to Mid-America Asset Management Inc. www.midamericagrp.com, which handles leasing for both centers, Sleepy’s has taken 6,075 sq. ft. at Cicero Annex in Chicago and 6,507 sq. ft. at Willow Creek Center in Glenview. The Chicago location plans to open this summer; the Glenview store opened recently.

     

  • Conn’s opens HomePlus location in Arizona

    The Woodlands, Texas – Conn’s Inc. is opening a Conn’s HomePlus store in Phoenix. The location marks the specialty chain’s second store in the Phoenix metro market and third store in Arizona.

    Conn’s operates 72 retail locations, with 58 in Texas, six in Louisiana, three in each Arizona and Oklahoma, and two in New Mexico.

     

  • Two new Natural Grocers in Oregon

    Denver — Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage plans to open freestanding locations in Beaverton and Bend, Oregon in August.

     

  • Kicks USA signs into Somerdale, N.J., center

    Purchase, N.Y. — Kicks USA has leased a 4,600-sq.-ft. store at CooperTowne Center in Somerdale, N.J., said National Realty & Development Corp.

    The urban, family apparel and athletic footwear retailer will Join anchors Wal-Mart Supercenter, Cinemark Theatres and LA Fitness.
