  • CBRE promotes Horne to president, Los Angeles region

    Los Angeles — CBRE Group has promoted Lewis Horne to president, greater Los Angeles-Orange County region. Horne has led the CBRE region since 2007. His elevation to the President title reflects outstanding performance across a broad range of leadership attributes, including new business development, business and sales management, market and industry leadership, client relationships and people management, said CBRE in a prepared statement.

  • Kendra Scott Jewelry opens two Atlanta stores

    Atlanta -- Boutique accessories and jewelry designer Kendra Scott will add two new Atlanta-area stores – one in Buckhead at The Shops Around Lenox, and the other in Alpharetta, at the Avalon Center.

    The Shops Around Lenox store opens April 26, and will feature an interactive Kendra Scott Color Bar, where customers can design and personalize one-of-a-kind jewelry.

    The Avalon Center store in Alpharetta is slated to open fall 2014.

  • Primark to make U.S. retail debut with store in Boston

    Dublin, Ireland – Discount fast-fashion retailer Primark, the Dublin-based subsidiary of U.K. retail and consumer group Associated British Foods, plans to enter the United States, opening a location in Boston. The 70,000-sq.-ft. store will open at the end of 2015 and be on the site of the former Filene's department store in the city’s downtown area.

  • River Bay Plaza in Riverview, Fla., sells for $5.8 million

    New York —River Bay Plaza in Riverview, Fla., has sold for $5.8 million. Cohen Real Estate represented the buyer and seller, both private investment firms.

    Located in Hillsborough County, the 79,288-sq.-ft. neighborhood shopping center is anchored by Winn Dixie, which recently exercised a lease option. Other recent developments include a new 10-year lease for Aaron’s and an option exercised by Dollar Tree.

    About 163,000 people live within a five-mile radius of the center. Average annual household income is $70,000.

  • CBRE promotes Ferguson to president, southeast region

    Lost Angeles — CBRE Group has announced that John Ferguson has been promoted to president, southeast region.

    Ferguson has led CBRE’s southeast region since January 2011. His elevation to the title of president reflects outstanding performance across a broad range of leadership activities including new business development, business and sales management, market and industry leadership, client relationships and people management, said CBRE in a statement.

  • Starbucks files permits for La Boulange store in Los Angeles

    Seattle – Starbucks Corp. has filed building permits to open a La Boulange bakery location in Los Angeles. The permits do not specify a time when Starbucks plans to open the new store.

    Starbucks purchased the La Boulange chain in 2012 and currently sells La Boulange-branded baked goods in U.S. Starbucks outlets. However, while there are 22 La Boulange stores in San Francisco, this would be the first location outside that market. Starbucks has previously said it wants to expand La Boulange nationally.

     

  • Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market to Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    Thousand Oaks, Calif. — A 36,000-sq.-ft. Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market has opened at Thousand Oaks Marketplace in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    Other Marketplace retailers include Chase Bank, Walgreens and Hampton Inn, with Subway and Great Clips slated to open soon. The center serves a daytime population of 75,498.

  • Paul Morelli to open jewelry store on Madison Avenue

    New YorkFaith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph Aquino, executive VP of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group are bringing Philadelphia-based, international Society jeweler, Paul Morelli, to 895 Madison Avenue, at the intersection of 72nd Street.

    The jeweler has been a presence at Bergdorf Goodman since 1981. The multi-level first New York store will offer 40 feet of double frontage and face two Ralph Lauren mansions.

    Columbus, Ohio — First Interstate Properties has named Steiner + Associates as the exclusive retail leasing agent for its 610,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

  • A Splash of Cold Water

    The recent announcement from Coldwater Creek that the women’s apparel brand will seek Chapter 11 protection and plans to start liquidating its inventory didn’t exactly come as a surprise. It has been years since the company posted a quarterly profit, and industry analysts and observers have been pointing to Coldwater’s worrying inability to compete stylistically in an increasingly competitive and youth-oriented women’s fashion market.
