  • DDR names capital markets exec

    Beachwood, Ohio -- DDR Corp. announced the appointment of Luke Petherbridge as senior VP capital markets. In this role, Petherbridge will be primarily responsible for capital raising, actively managing the balance sheet and maintaining strong lender relationships.

  • Daiso opens eleventh Bay Area store

    Alameda, Calif. -- Japanese discounter Daiso has opened its eleventh Bay Area location – a pop-up store – at Alameda South Shore Center, a shopping center owned by Jamestown.

    The new 1,400-sq.-ft. shop will open for an initial period of three months.

  • T.J. Maxx to open at Ridge Hill

    Yonkers, N.Y. -- Aries Deitch & Endelson said that a lease was recently signed by TJX Cos. for a 32,000-sq.-ft. T.J. Maxx store slated to open this spring at Westchester County’s Ridge Hill, the New York metropolitan area’s largest mixed-use outdoor shopping center. 

    Located in Yonkers, the lifestyle center, which is owned by Forest City Ratner Cos., spans more than 81.4 acres and includes 1.3 million sq. ft.

  • CBRE announces promotion

    Los Angeles -- CBRE said Friday that Michael F. Smith has been promoted to president of the company’s Western Division. Smith, who has led CBRE’s San Francisco Bay area operations since 2002, succeeds Steven Swerdlow, who has been appointed COO of the Americas.

    In his new role, Smith will direct CBRE’s operations in more than 46 offices in nine states, with responsibility for all lines of business. He will continue in his role as Bay Area market leader until a successor is named.
     

  • Sabre Real Estate names exec

    Garden City, N.Y. -- Sabre Real Estate Group said that Scott Sher has been named senior VP of the retail real estate brokerage firm.

    Formerly director of real estate-northeastern region at Katz & Associates Corp., of Pearl River, Sher specializes in tenant and landlord representation in the New Jersey, Manhattan, Outer Boroughs, Westchester and Long Island markets.
     

  • LaVida Massage debuts in Pittsburgh

    Commerce, Mich. -- LaVida Massage announced the opening of its first center in Pittsburgh, slated to open in late December at Shadyside Shops.

    The 2,800-sq.-ft. location will feature nine regular massage rooms, two couples massage rooms and an aesthetics room. It will be owned and managed by brothers and franchisees Gary and Michael Kohanbash.

  • Walmart Market to debut near Atlanta

    Tarrytown, N.Y. – DLC Management Corp. announced a new deal signed with Wal-Mart Stores to open a 44,271-sq.-ft. Walmart Market at DLC’s Bethesda Walk Shopping Center in Lawrenceville, Ga.

    The deal, which was finalized on November 21, marks the grocery-only concept’s first store in the Atlanta metro area.

  • Rue21 opens new locations in Paris, Texas and Chickasha, Okla.

    Dallas -- Venture Commercial Real Estate said it has represented rue21 in lease negotiations for two new store locations that opened in November in Paris, Texas and Chickasha, Okla.

    The Paris store is in a 7,162-sq.-ft. space in Paris Towne Center, and the Chickasha store is located in the Southland Shopping Center.
     

  • Duane Reade unveils expanded store format

    New York City -- Duane Reade, a division of Walgreens, spotlights its “New York Living Made Easy” format on Friday with the unveiling of its expanded store located at 1657 Broadway in New York.
    The new 24-hour location reflects the chain’s focus on rebranding and aggressive transformation initiatives to date.

  • Three New Leases signed at Granada Village

    Granada Hills, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said that it has leased 7,083 sq. ft. of retail space in Granada Hills, Calif., among three new tenants at Granada Village.

    Carter’s leased 3,866 sq. ft., and hair salon Fantastic Sams leased 1,217 sq. ft.  Both are slated to open for business in March 2012. Opening in second quarter 2012, Freebirds World Burrito has leased 2,000 sq. ft. of restaurant space.
